Bhilai, Apr 16, 2019: There is a popular demand from people to field Priyanka Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections, but whether she would be in fray is entirely for the party high command to decide, stated Motilal Vora, AICC General Secretary while interacting with media persons at Nehru Nagar on Tuesday. Answering to a query on the prospects of her contesting elections, he further said that ever since Priyanka Gandhi formally entered politics ahead of Lok Sabha elections, she has gained in popularly among people, and speculations on her contesting the election has become widespread but the decision in this regard solely lies on Rahul Gandhi.
Motilal Vora is in Durg as a part of his Vijay Sankalp Yatra and conducted extensive campaigning in Durg Lok Sabha constituency. In reply to a query on seat sharing, the veteran leader said that Congress is not contesting on all the seats and once the results are out, a strong government would be formed under the leadership of Congress. About the prospects in Chhattisgarh, he said that the Congress has fulfilled all its promises made during the Assembly election and this has resulted in increased trust among people. Furthermore, people are fed up of Narendra Modi and his “jumlas” and so they are not going to be carried away by false promises being made by BJP.
About the election manifesto, Vora said that BJP has included 100 Sankalps in its manifesto which cannot be accomplished. He stated that the reservation bill for women could not be passed in the Lok Sabha during its tenure. But Congress has included 33% reservation to women in its election manifesto. Congress has also mentioned for same reservation for Army recruitment as well. Also, Congress has promised to give Rs 72,000 early to every family whereas BJP has failed to keep its promises of depositing Rs 15 lakhs in every account, providing jobs to 2 crore youth every year. Therefore, voters have made their minds to vote Congress to power.
