These include 150 executives and 1179 non-executive employees who had joined the service in SAIL’s flagship unit, Bhilai Steel Plant in 1993.
At a function held at the Main Assembly Hall of Human Resources Development Centre, Bhilai AK Rath, Chief Executive Officer gave away long service award to executives of the rank of Assistant General Manager and above in the presence of BP Nayak, ED (F&A), AK Kabisatapathy, ED (Projects), Manas Biswas, ED (Mines & Rowghat), Dr SK Issar, Director I/c (M&HS), SK Basar, ED (MM), general managers, senior officers of the Plant and President & representatives of Officers’ Association.
This organisation has sustained us for so long. We have given our best to this organisation. Let us give back to the organisation what it needs at this juncture, said AK Rath, at the Long Service Awards function organised in HRDC on Company Foundation Day.
Today is the day when the organisation expresses its gratitude to its employees who have put in 25 valuable years of service, said Rath. Stating that he has been deeply impressed by the sense of pride and passion among employees that he has felt during the short period spent in Bhilai, Rath said that Bhilai has been at the top of steel industry charts, a position all of you have helped sustain for a very long period. This is a great institution and the ambience, the atmosphere and culture here is such that it makes employees give their best, he said.
“As it often happens with any business organisation, we have somewhat slipped down from that position. Any organisation is the summation of efforts of all its employees. We are all giving our best, but at this point of time, we must read the context, address the reasons why we have slipped down from our earlier position, and re-orient our efforts so as to bring about the turnaround of Bhilai Steel Plant,” Rath concluded.
In his address, Manas Biswas, ED (Mines-Rowghat) said this is memorable day for all those present and they must share this with their family. These are uncertain times for our organisation and there are many challenges. The competitors are private organizations. As the unit is poised for achieving 7 MT capacity, senior employees in the organisation will have several challenges come their way, he said.
Congratulating long service awardees, Dr SK Issar, Director I/c M & HS said this is an occasion that makes us aware about our organisation having taken care of us and the pride we take as senior employees in whatever role we are serving.
