Bhilai, Dec 11, 2018: The Steel City Bhilai Nagar maintained its tradition of changing its assembly representative on completion of five years term. In a tough contest, the Congress candidate Devendra Yadav, who is also the sitting Mayor of Bhilai, managed to marginally defeat senior BJP leader Prem Prakash Pandey by 2849 votes. The counting was held in 13 rounds for this seat.
There were 14 candidates in fray in this seat. Prem Prakash Pandey (BJP) secured 48195 votes; Devendra Yadav (Cong) secured 51044 votes; Deenanath Ji Jaiswar (BSP) got 2662 votes; Mohammad Raza Siddhiqi (AAP) got 276 votes; Enul Haq Khan (Bhrashtachar Mukti Morcha) got 216 votes; Thanendra Sahu (Swabhimaan Party) got 319 votes; Mohammad Naseem (Bahujan Mukti Party) got 55 votes; Janissar Akhtar (Rashtriya Samajwadi Swabhimaan Manch) got 72 votes ; Biju Johnson (Chhattisgarh Swabhimaan Manch) got 149 votes; Suresh Kumar Adil (Ind) got 544 votes; Rampyari Bharti (Ind) got 208 votes; Anwar-Ul-Haq (Ind) got 91 votes; Shatrughan Prasad (Ind) got 592 votes; and Javed Khan (Ind) got 123 votes. 1147 votes went to NOTA.
