Grand procession marks Ambedkar Jayanti celebration
Bhilai, Apr 14: Led by Bharatiya Baudh Mahasabha, Dr Ambedkar Pratima Prabandh Samiti, SAIL SC/ST Association, Dr Ambedkar Siksha Mitra Society, Dr Ambedkar Swasth Mission, Women’s wing, Youth wing together celebrated the 128th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in a grand manner on Sunday. The celebrations began with procession in the morning which started from Dr Ambedkar Sanskritik Bhavan, Sector-6 and ended at the Power House Square where the life size statue of Dr Ambedkar is installed. The rally was taken out by Bharatiya Baudh Mahasabha and other associations too joined in the way. Several social organizations distributed cool drinks at various locations from where the rally passed. The rally after taking off from Sector-6 after covering Clock Square at Supela ended at Power House Square where tributes were paid to the statue of Dr Ambedar. All the eminent persons garlanded the statue and lighted candles.
The chief minister Bhupesh Baghel who was the chief guest in his address at the Power House Square said that the ideals of constitution maker Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar can not be forgotten. Dr Ambedkar believed in equality and on its basis society can be lifted up. Everyone should trust the constitution that has been made by Baba Saheb and follow his ideology which would be the best tribute to him, e further added. Baghel also said that Dr Ambedkar was a symbol of peace and harmony. Throughout his life, he tried to uplift the weaker section and destitute in the country. Being the visionary that Baba Saheb was, he had made the provision in constitution that irrespective of being rich of poor, or from any religion or community, every citizen has the right to exercise his vote. People believe in this power and also follow the same. Several other leaders also expressed their thoughts. Other guests present were Cabinet Minister Shiv Dahariya, Bhilai Mayor & MLA Devendra Yadav and District Congress Committee president Tulsi Sahu.
Other smaller rallies that joined the main rally were from Kosa Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Radhika Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Khursipar, Bharav basti etc. The rallies were felicitated under the auspices of Brite Association with memento. The best rallies won cash rewards of Rs 3100/- 2100/- and 1100/- in memory of the founder president of Pratibha Prabandh Samiti Late Harishchand Ramteke. In a function organised at Ambedkar Sanskritik Bhavan in Sector-6, the students with outstanding performance in board exams were given awards.
Cultural presentations marked the evening where prominent personalities from the community were present. The guests included Narendra Khobragadhe, corporators Neeraj Pal and Suryakant Sinha, Sunil Ramteke (National President SAIL SC/ST), Baleshwar Choure, Santosh Bhimte and Indrakumar Ramteke.
