Bhilai, Mar 08, 2019: Women and Child Development Department of Durg District hosted a felicitation function on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the auditorium of Bhilai Institute of Technology. WCD Minister Anila Bhedia was the chief guest of the programme. She honoured the women from different walks of life, from Aanganwadi workers to Mrs Asia International. The women honoured on the occasion included Majulata Angare who constituted more than 400 Women SHGs; aanganwadi worker Ramin Sahu, Mrs Asia International Avantika Srivastava and Deputy Collector Premlata Chandel.
In her address, Anila expressed contentment on honoring the talented and dedicated women of the society. She added that these women have struggled a lot to achieve this status and success in life. Women are playing leading role in different sphere of life. Success of a woman is the success of entire family and the society. She urged the women to leave their hesitation and move ahead in the field of their choice. Anila asked the women to encourage others also to work hard and establish their own identity. She suggested the women to approach Sakhi One Stop centers if their suffer injustice. The women interested in entrepreneurship can seek financial assistance from Mahila Kosh, she said.
In her address, WCD Department Secretary M Geeta stated that the government is committed for progress and welfare of the women. Strong nation and society are possible only through women empowerment. She spoke about various schemes of Women and Child Development Department and asked the women to seek benefits of the same.
Divisional Commissioner Dilip Wasnikar extended IWD greetings to the women present on the occasion. He narrated the story of Savitri Bai Fule who dedicated her entire life for women education during the era of British rule. District Collector Ankit Anand also addressed the gathering and stated that women are playing vital role in making the nation stronger.
