Bhilai, Oct 03, 2018: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the All World Gayatri Pariwar launched a mega de-addiction campaign “Nasha Bharat Chhodo” across the nation. The Durg-Bhilai unit of the organization took out an awareness rally and urged the people for saying no to drugs, alcohol and other intoxicants. About 200 volunteers of AWGP participated in the rally which began from Gayatri Shaktipeeth Sector 6 and moved across Sector 9, Hudco, Jail Triangle, Patel Square, Durg Bus Stand, Durg Gayatri Mandir, Green Square and concluded at its origin.
With the help of audio-visuals; songs and exhibitions, the AWGP members explained the people about the ill effects of intoxication. Teaching for Empowerment and Morals (TEAM) members staged street plays at different spots and explained how the new generation is getting spoiled due to intoxication. Common people were administered pledge for de-addiction and making the society free from intoxication. BMC Mayor Sudesh Kumar Sundarani attended the closing function of the rally and appreciated the efforts being made by Gayatri Pariwar towards the social cause. SP Singh, Dheeraj Lal Taunk; Ramswaroop Sahu, Loknath Sahu, Mohan Lal Umre, Pranesh Biswas, Yuvraj Sahu, Usha Kiran, DIYA State Convener Dr PL Sao, Dr Yogendra Kumar, Tilottama Muduli and others were present.
