Bhilai, Apr 30, 2019: Adopting a sensitive and human approach for a Baiga Tribal family, state’s Director General of Police himself intervened on Sunday to provide relief to a Baiga Tribal family, which was in distress after death of a family member at JLN Hospital, Sector 9.
According to information, Guddi Bai Baiga, wife of Dode Baiga a resident of Shahdol (MP) was admitted at the Burn Unit of JLN Hospital, Sector 9 on April 22. She succumbed during treatment on April 29. The poor Baiga family had sold their property for arranging money for medical expenses. On Sunday, the hospital management provided a bill of Rs 80000 as final settlement. The poor family had no money left for paying bill. Due to non-payment of bills, they were unable to get the body of their family member.
DGP DM Awasthi came to know about the problem of this family. Adopting a sensitive approach, he immediately directed the IGP (Durg Range) Himanshu Gupta to help this family. IGP Gupta immediately reached JLN Hospital and requested the hospital management to waive off the bills of the poor Baiga family. Considering IGP’s request, the hospital management waived off the bill of Rs 80000 and the body was handed over to the family after completing the formalities. ASP (City) Rohit Jha and Inspector Pramila Mandavi accompanied IGP at the hospital. The Baiga family expressed gratitude towards DGP DM Awsathi for his help.
