Bhilai, Sep 06, 2018: Border Security Force celebrated the Raising Day of its Frontier Headquarters (Special Operations) with great enthusiasm and gaiety on Wednesday. The Frontier Headquarters situated in Risali of Steel City was established in the year 2010 for conducting the anti-naxal operations in Kanker District of the state. In the nine years of deployment in insurgency hit areas, BSF succeeded in accomplishing its task to great extent. BSF established its camps in remote areas and was successful in winning confidence of the common people.
Higher Education and Revenue Minister Prem Prakash Pandey was the chief guest of the function held at a private school in Nehru Nagar. In his address, Pandey appreciated the working of BSF in the naxal infested areas. He said that BSF is not only guarding our international borders but is also playing a vital in role in fighting the enemies within the country. Pandey added that the Civic Action Programme conducted by BSF has proved to be very successful in winning trust of the tribals.
IG (BSF) JB Sangwan, top officials and jawans of BSF; administrative officials; BSP officials and school staff and office bearers were present on the occasion. Renowned artist Priyanka Chaudhary and other local artists gave cultural presentations on patriotic themes.
The BSF jawans are not only displaying their courage in fighting naxals but are also accomplishing their responsibilities towards the society and nature as well. Under the civic action programme, they are providing educational material to the tribal children in remote villages; free medical treatment to villagers; skills development programme for unemployed youth; etc. The force has adopted several villages for ensuring expected development and welfare of the villagers. Under the Youth Exchange Programme, hundreds of tribal children have been taken for visit to different parts of the country for enabling them to explore the outer world and learn the rich culture and heritage of the country.
