Bhilai, Apr 04, 2019: Four women working in a firecracker factory in village Marmara sustained burns, two of them critically, when a fire broke out after explosion on Thursday afternoon. The blast is reported to have occurred while the women were mixing gun powder in the premises of Raza Fire Works Factory which comes under the limits of Anjora Chowki of Pulgaon Police Station in Durg. The victims were immediately taken to the Burn Unit of District Hospital where they were given primary treatment and then referred to Sector-09 Hospital. Dial 112 was contacted immediately and two fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.
It has been reported that these women were mixing the gun powder in the factory godown used for making crackers and during the grinding work, a spark resulted in fire breaking out which spread immediately injuring them. On being informed two fire tenders rushed to the spot and after controlling fire, rescued the injured women. Rahi Nishad (45) and Bhunshwari are serious with 85% burns and 70% burns respectively. The other two Durgi Nishad and Matibai Nishad have sustained 50 and 60 per cent burns respectively. In view of the serious burn injuries, they have been shifted to the JLNH&RC Sector-09 for better treatment. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and verifying the details of the legality of the Factory.
