Bhilai, Oct 11, 2018: On Thursday, BSP Gasline mishap victim Satya Vijay succumbed to his burns at the Advanced Burn Care Unit of JLN Hospital and Research Centre, Sector 9. With this, the death toll rose to 13 in this shocking mishap. He was posted as senior technician of Energy Management Department and was the members of the team of experts which was conducting repairs at the mishap site. Satya Vijay had suffered almost 100% burns on his body. He breathed last in the wee hours of Thursday. Later the body was taken for autopsy and thereafter handed over to the family members. He resided at Joratarai area of the city. Last rites of the mortal remains were performed at the Joratarai Muktidham. Large number of BSP employees and trade union leaders attended the funeral.
Twelve victims are recuperating at the Advanced Burn Unit of JLN Hospital. Condition of three of them was reported to be critical while condition of others was stated to be stable. The critical patients are Narendra Kumar with 60% burns; Lokendra Kumar with 70% burns (diabetes and sickling) and Sukanta Behera with 70% burns. Other nine victims admitted in the hospital are Sohan Lal Meena with 50% burns; Vimal Kumar with 40% burns; Ranjeet Kumar with 40% burns; Triyogi Nath Jaiswal with 30% burns; Chhatrapal Singh Rana with 40% burns; Hemant Oraon with 40% burns and Jitendra Kumar with 50% burns (sickling). Their condition was reported to be stable.
It needs to be mentioned here that out of the 13 deceased, only four have been identified till now. These four victims identified as DK Chauhan (Assistant Manager, EMD), Dinesh Kumar Bomaniya (Senior Technician), Durgesh Singh Rathore (ACT, EMD) and Satya Vijay (Senior Technician) had succumbed during treatment at the hospital. On the other hand, as the identification of the charred bodies was not possible, nine of the employees are presumed to be missing right now. Autopsy has been performed and DNA examination process has been launched for ascertaining the identity of the bodies. The bodies will be handed over to the bereaved families only after ascertaining their identity. The victims who are presumed to be missing at present are Ganesh Ram (Senior Technician, EMD), Uday Pandey (Master Technician, EMD), Syed Akil Ahmad (Senior Technician, EMD), Kesho Ram (Senior Technician, EMD), Sanjay Chaudhary (OCT, EMD), Malkham Prasad (Leading Fireman, Fire Brigade), Vishwanath Rajput (Seniro Fire Station Officer), Indraman Dubey (Fireman cum Driver) and Dev Narayan Taram (Fireman cum Driver).
