Bhilai, Apr 21, 2019: At least three persons are feared buried in a collapsed structure of a rice mill at village Samoda of Durg District. The incident occurred at Shri Saint Hardas Rice Mill situated at village Samoda. Son of the mill owner and two others are feared buried in the debris.
According to information, the mill is about 25 years old and its shed and other structures were in dilapidated state. The structure was badly shaken in the storms which occurred on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the milling operations were on when the major portion of the shed and the dryer suddenly collapsed at around 11:00 hrs. Mill owner Chetandas Keswani’s son Ravi Keswani, one Operator and a helper were trapped beneath the debris. About 1500 quintals of paddy was also stored in the mill.
On information, police team reached the spot and NDRF was pressed into rescue operations. Senior administrative officers, CSP (Durg) Vivek Shukla, SHO Jeora Sirsa Chowki and others too reached the spot for supervising the rescue operations. The debris of the shed and the machinery are being removed cautiously with the help of heavy earth movers. The rescue team is yet to find the people trapped in the debris. Rescue operations were on till filing of this report.
