Bhilai, Mar 01, 2019: On Friday, a joint meeting of the top brass of judiciary and police department was held at auditorium of Durg District Court. The agenda of meeting was the new laws and amendments made in the penal code in the matters of juveniles in conflict with law. District and Sessions Judge and presiding officers of various courts; SP Prakhar Pandey and gazette officers of Durg Police were present.
Discussions were held on the procedure to be followed during trial of the juveniles in the court. The cops were explained about the amendments made in the Indian Penal Code and were instructed to work in accordance with the amended laws while handling the cases of juveniles. They were explained about the Supreme Court directives over the cases of juveniles. In any condition, identity of the juveniles in conflict with law should not be disclosed.
Cops were also explained about the provisions of section 228-A of IPC according to which legal action is to be taken against the persons for disclosing the identity of the juveniles. The judicial top brass cleared the doubts and resolved the practical problems being faced by the policemen while handling the cases of juveniles.
