Bhilai, Apr 22, 2019: Three bodies have been recovered from the mishap site in village Samoda where the major structure of a Rice Mill had collapsed on Sunday morning. The rescue team of NDRF conducted the operations for about 18 hours after which the bodies were recovered.
The deceased were identified as Ravi Kesvani (32) son of Chetan Das Kesvani (Mill owner) a resident of Sidhi Colony Durg; Upendra Mukhiya (65) a resident of District Madhepura (Bihar); and Shyam Kumar Mehta (24) a resident of District Supaul (Bihar).
It needs to be mentioned here that the dryer and shed of Shri Saint Hardas Ram Rice Mill had collapsed during maintenance works on Sunday morning. Three people were buried alive in this incident. Another labour identified as Bandru Khetkar had a narrow escape in this incident. Soon after the incident, top administrative officials had reached the spot and rescue operations were launched under their supervision. The heavy metal structures were cut with the help of gas cutters and removed with the help of heavy cranes. At around 04:00 hrs on Monday, the rescue team recovered the bodies trapped beneath the debris.
Police have registered a case and investigations are on. The officials of Industrial Health and Safety Department also conducted initial probe at the mishap site.
