#State Government’s major decision in the interest of forest dwellers
Raipur, June 20, 2020: As per the vision of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, State Government has increased the number of minor forest produces procured at support price from 25 to 31 in the larger interest of forest dwellers. Forest tulsi seeds, forest jeera beej, tamarind seeds, baheda kachariya, harra kachariya and neem seed have been included in the list of minor forest produces to be procured at support price. Prescribed support price for forest tulsi seed is Rs 16/kg, forest jeera seed Rs 70/kg, tamarind seed Rs 11/kg, baheda kachariya Rs 20/kg, harra kachariya Rs 15/kg and neem seed Rs 27/kg. Government of India has fixed the minimum support price for harra kachhariya at Rs 23/kg, which State Government has increased by Rs 2 making it Rs 25/kg.
Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that earlier till year 2018, only 7 minor forest produces were procured at support price. To provide employment on a large scale to forest dwellers, present Government has increased the number of minor forest produce procured at support price from time to time. And now there are 31 minor forest produces that are procured at support price in Chhattisgarh. This will provide employment to a large number of people in forest region and improve their economic condition.
Earlier, 25 minor forest produces including sal seed, harra, tamarind seed, chiraunji, mahua seed, kusumi lac, rangini lac, kaal megh, baheda, nagarmotha, kullu, gond, puwad, bel guda, honey, broom, mahua flower, jamun beej, kaunch beej, dhawai flower, karanj beej, baibading, amla, tamarind flower, giloy and bhelwa were procured at support price. Now state government is providing bonus on procurement kusumi lac, rangini lac and kullu gond, besides the support price.
