Durg, Aug 25, 2018: Chhattisgarh Markfed has introduced certain changes in the paddy procurement, transportation and custom milling procedure for the Kharif season. The GPS enabled vehicles will be used in transportation of paddy from this year. The gunny bags of PDS will be utilized for paddy procurement. Further, the department has assured to make payment without delay to the millers and transporters.
On Saturday, Anbalagan Ponnusamy (Managing Director, Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation) chaired a meeting with the Rice Millers and Transporters of the district and made them aware about the new policy for custom milling and transportation of paddy from the procurement centers for the Kharif season 2018-19. At the same time, he invited suggestions from the concerned transporters and rice millers.
He asked the rice millers to conduct custom milling as per their capacity. He added that the transportation arrangement will be based on the distance. The rates could differ within the district. SOR has been prepared for the transporters and millers of the district in which the rates have been fixed after considering all the suggestions and pleas. GM Markfed further stated that this is not the final rate and tendering process will be adopted this year also.
Anbalagan informed the transporters that the transporters will have to install GPS devices in their vehicles. He added that the GPS model has been very successful at different states. On the other hand, Single Window Registration System will be implemented at the procurement centers. This will be a random model. Payment will be made to the transporters on the basis of agreement. The entire payment procedure will be online. The waiting list system has been eliminated for DO. It will be distributed in four different batches and the nearest millers from procurement centers will get priority. Other arrangements will be similar to that of previous years.
He further informed that the transporters and millers will get their payment without delay. PDS bardana (gunny bags) will be utilized for paddy procurement. The bardanas transported from PDS shops will be received by the Food Department and the same department would make arrangements of storage. Suggestions were sought from the transporters for ensuring better coordination and better results. Collector Umesh Kumar Agrawal urged the millers and transporters for extending expected support. Officials of Food Department, Civil Supplies and CCB and others concerned attended the meeting.
