Bhilai, Feb 05, 2019: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel flagged off the “Suraksha Sanskar Rath” of Durg District Police. This chariot (vehicle) would to utilized for propagating safety awareness among citizens. This is an initiative under the community policing programme “Hamar Dwar – Hamar Rakhwar”. This chariot will be mainly utilized in rural areas. According to record, 80% of the deaths in road accidents occur in rural areas. For this reason only, the rural population will be the target audiences for this awareness chariot. Police Superintendent Prakhar Pandey, ASP (City) Vijay Pandey, ASP (IUCAW) Pragya Meshram, DSP Praveer Chandra Tiwari, DSP (Traffic) Gurjeet Singh, CSP (Bhilai Nagar) Shyam Sundar Sharma, CSP (Chhawani) Ajeet Yadav, SDOP (Patan) Rajeev Mishra, Reserve Inspector Neelesh Dwivedi, Inspector Rakesh Bhoi, Inspector Surendra Srivastava, Inspector Shruti Singh, Inspector Lata Chaure and others were present.
This chariot is armed with LED Screen, audio system and generator set. Audio visual presentations and short films will be used to spread awareness on various issues. This vehicle will be used for making presentations during fairs and Madai-Melas in rural areas. Programmes and presentations in Chhattisgarhi dialect are being prepared for making the messages reach effectively among the rural masses. Poster, pamphlets and banners have been kept in this vehicle for display and distribution among common people. This chariot would conduct traffic awareness programmes in two villages and one urban locality every day. The people will be detailed about the women safety and ways to protect oneself from cyber crime and forgery.
After being formally inaugurated at CM House, the Chariot moved to Kumhari Square, Old Bhilai, Dabrapara Square, Khursipar, Power House, Chandra Mourya Square, Supela, Nehru Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Rajendra Park, Patel Square and concluded its journey for the day at Traffic Park in Civic Centre.
Under the ongoing road safety week, traffic police teams visited various schools for sensitizing the students over road safety issues. Children and citizens visited Road Safety Exhibition at Nehru Art Gallery in Civic Centre. Traffic Card camps were held at various spots across the city.
