Bhilai, Nov 03: On Saturday, scrutiny of nomination forms submitted for the assembly elections from six constituencies of Durg District was conducted at the premises of District Collectorate by the respective returning officers. Nomination forms of 26 candidates were rejected due to different reasons while 92 forms were found to be appropriately filled and filed. These 92 forms have been finally accepted. Any nomination form was not rejected from Durg (Urban) assembly seat. Six nominations were rejected from Bhilai Nagar; three from Patan; six from Vaishalinagar and five nominations were rejected from Ahiwara.
15 candidates had filed their nominations from Patan assembly seat out of which three were rejected. The candidates whose nomination forms were rejected are Devkumar Markandey (Chhattisgarh Swabhimaan Party), Hemant Prasad Sahu (Ind) and Manoj Kumar Baghel (Ind).
22 candidates had filed nominations from Bhilai Nagar out of which six were rejected. Nominations of Vinod Kumar Wasnik (BSP), Geetanjali Singh (BSP), Arpan Tarun (India Praja Bandhu Party); Paras Ram Dhurve (Ambedkarite Party of India); Devendra Dewangan (Ind) and Kishoer Kumar (Ind) were rejected.
23 candidates had filed nominations from Vaishali nagar out of which six were rejected. They were Brijmohan Singh Thakur (INC); Hemlata Sahu (INC); Tulsi Sahu (INC); Kareem Khan (INC); Milton Lal Singh (Praja Bandhu Party) and Sanjay Kumar Gendre (Ind). From Ahiwara, 19 candidates had filed their nominations out of which nominations of five were rejected. Candidates whose nomination forms were rejected are Gulshan Dhinde (BJP); Paras Ram Rakesh (BJP), Oni Kumar Mahilang (INC); Santosh Banjare (BSP) and Chandra Prakash mandle (INC).

Election Commission of India has appointed KK Chaudhary (IPS) as Police Observer for the six assembly seats of Durg District. He will be available to meet the common people and party representatives during 11:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs on all days at the Board Room, Meeting Hall of Bhilai Niwas.

Strict Action against Individuals displaying Election Campaign Material
Instructions of the Election Commission with regard to Code of Conduct in Bhilai Township are being strictly followed during the entire process for the 2018 Chhattisgarh State Assembly election. Accordingly, the use and display of election-promotional campaign material on residential quarters, public buildings, squares, electricity poles or other public structures in the Township area have been strictly prohibited. Notice to this effect has been issued to employees of the Plant through circular while the public has been informed through the medium of notice in newspapers.
Despite this, promotional campaign material of political parties has been found displayed in some areas. Taking note of display of promotional materials found in the residential quarters and shops in the Khursiparar area, the BSP Management has filed FIR, under the Public Property Disputes Act, strictly in keeping with the Election Code of Conduct.
A 24 x 7 Election Control Room is being operated in the Town Services Department and the entire Township area is being monitored continuously and closely. In case any type of election-material such as flag, banner, poster, board, cut-out etc. are found displayed in residential quarters, public buildings, sites or other public structures in the Township area, immediate FIR will be lodged against those responsible for the display. Therefore, it has been appealed to residents of the Township area, political party representatives/workers, candidates or agents not to display such promotional campaign material nor allow such material to be displayed, thereby avoiding action.
