Swadisht Chana Vitaran Yojana inaugurated in state
State Government’s campaign against malnutrition

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday inaugurated Swadisht Chana Vitaran Yojana in Chhattisgarh state. Under Nutritious Meal Scheme, chickpeas will be distributed in scheduled areas of Chhattisgarh with the objective of eradicating malnutrition. Chief Minister Baghel flagged off 10 trucks of chickpeas from his residence office in Civil Lines Raipur to Bastar region. On the occasion, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal, MLA Dhanendra Sahu, Food Department Secretary Kamalpreet Singh and department officials were also present.
It is noteworthy that under PDS, chickpeas will be distributed in scheduled areas of the state via fair price shops. Every month two kg chickpeas will be supplied at Rs 5/kg to the poor families in all the 85 scheduled blocks and Maada areas of the state. Under this scheme, nearly 25 lakh families of 100 development blocks of 23 districts in Chhattisgarh will receive nearly 50 thousand quintals of chickpeas every month. State Government would spend about Rs 202 crore on chickpeas distribution in a year.
