Bhilai Steel Plant has set up Safety Excellence Center near the Plant Main Gate to promote safety. This “Safety Excellence Center” named as “Suraksha Kavach” or Safety Shield was inaugurated by AK Rath, Chief Executive Officer of the plant.
At the outset, Surendra Singh, General Manager (Safety and Fire Services) led those present in taking the safety oath. Here visitors to the Plant will be briefed on safety precautions to be followed at Suraksha Kavach.
A short film based on safety was screened on a LCD screen installed in this center. Personal protective equipment (PPE) used in the plant have been prominently displayed in this center. In addition, various types of fire extinguishers and other fire- fighting equipment have also been showcased. On the occasion, AK Rath, CEO along with senior officials viewed the film and other displays. Various types of safety posters and banners have also been displayed in this centre to awaken awareness on safety. Beautiful rangolis were created to provide safety messages. The establishment of this center will help improve the plant’s safety monitoring system. Various safety related statistics and information will be available at the centre.
Chief Guest Rath while appreciating the efforts of the Safety Engineering Department congratulated the entire team and said that new measures of protection should be included in our work in order to ensure the safety of personnel and to enhance their morale.

General Managers, Departmental Heads, Departmental Safety Officers, Zonal Safety Officers and a large number of personnel and officers of the Safety Engineering Department were present.
